Rachel Karch has worked at the Department of Natural Resources for the past 5 years. Kim from Community Work Services helped to design a job for Rachel at the DNR so Rachel could help the office run more efficiently. Rachel does “secure shredding,” ensuring that confidential documents are properly destroyed. A few years ago Rachel moved to Madison with her parents from Appleton, where she had worked in a sheltered workshop. She is much happier in her new job, and she provides a very important service. Not only does she excel the actual work, but she also really enjoys her co-workers and job coaches, who “bring out the best in her.” Rachel is definitely part of the team at DNR, and she takes her turn bringing in treats like the other employees.  She ends each work day saying, “See you tomorrow!”
